ProjectMayan TricycleSanta Cruz Build Days Mid June 2012First day at John S's house in Sant Cruz (12.19.19.8.19 5Kawak 2Sek G8 In Mayan) Great first work Day!!!RAH. |

Grassy uneven patch of ground.

Placing a solid center post
John pre-made a head/center junction piece.
Using an old KE transit, John, Gwen (Who shot most of these photos) and wizzard started making a radially oriented platform to build on (why stoop to the ground?) Shortly afer we started Charlie joined us as well. Everyone had a job.
John had laid out the platform in Auto-Cad. After placing 19 boards when we went to place the loast board it was off by 1/16' of an inch! Amazing on such a large structure!

Playin'. Doing some not so deep dip between the rails.
Higher Vantage point.
The neighbors were interested.

Platform done, it's time to make teeth (waitin til monday for thinner wood for big arcs.)
Looking out John's kitchen, he can see progress on the platform.
Cutting Near the lines on a band saw.
Charlie drilling 4 holes to make it easier to turn the piece of when in the band saw.
John, showing wizzard how to use cutoof saw.
Do the rest!
John on router doing final shaping (after the band saw got us close.)
Charlie took over the band saw. (He was dead set against doing it to start, but took to it FAST!)
Laying out 13 teeth on the exact circle we drew on the inner circle of wood pieces. 13 is 1/4th of a circle-our first test to see if the teeth really do fit. Maybe a scosh big??? It's like 6:30 in the evening and there's a beach burn in SC we want to go to and a chance to tell people about it.
Tomorow we'll test again with all 52 teeth we need for the smaller rings. If a bit long, we can adjust the size then. We're making 208 of them al togther (stacking 2 thick on each of 2 rings.) Should be a fun day!!

Day 2 - Sunday - of the build days in SC. Elecktra joined us today also.

Elecktra screwing the template onto a roughly shaped tooth gives it to John to Route and then unscrews the temple from the completed tooth.
