The first "ball" began as a pile of free palette wood that I glued and nailed into a double layer and cut into rings. med | big | huge |

More rings could be added, but I put this ball on hold because it was just not big enough to be impressive. med | big | huge |
The next "ball" started as 3-4 foot long 2x2s joined orthogonally at their middles. med | big | huge |
Then more 2x2s are added at a 45 degree angle with glue and screws. med | big | huge |

By adding more and more complexity-more 2x2s in my expanding fractal of a ball-I want to make enough attachment points to be able to easily add a 'skin' of small pieces of wood to give the ball a solid surface. I hope to have so many attachment points that the skin pieces will overlap some to strengthen the ball. med | big | huge |

In this shot, you can see the radius string I used to measure how long each 2x2 should be. med | big | huge |
